I finally decided that having a separate page for blog is NOT convenient! So here I am.
I guess today, the main thing on my mind outside of the hurting people that have been ravaged by storms/floods et al ... and their personal well-being, is the well being of our little Matilda.

Now, some would think it utterly ridiculous to be so concerned about a cat, but she is very special (as are all our little furry ppl). She showed up daily, where we used to live . She was so friendly and we guessed her to be maybe a year or two of age. She'd stand on her back two feet and peek at Willie through the screen and they'd "communicate" thru the door. One day she walked from behind our shed w/five little ones in tow!! Our neighbor's dad lived on a farm where he 'took in' lost, and abandoned cats in his large shed. He'd feed & water them and generally, let them live a natural happy life on the farm. He lived about 2 and a half miles out.

Our youngest son & I gathered them all up inluding 'mom' and the neighbor took them to the farm. This was on a sunday. Well, by Thursday guess who was at our back door? She had 'adopted' us!! She made her way all the way back from the farm after seeing her "children" safely deposited. Well, what could I do? I just HAD to take her in. I took her to our basement and would let her acclamate to the indoors and the other critters with a bit of time. I'd sit down there w/her and finally decided she looked like a Matilda! So, I'd sing 'Waltzing Matilda' to her while holding her in my lap and getting acquainted. But she knew far before WE did, that this was home forever. :)

Anyway... she's going to have her right eye taken out tomorrow a.m. very early due to glaucoma. So, her discomfort is at the forefront of my thoughts today.

I guess watching 'the innocents' suffer, whether 2 or 4-legged version is something that I will never be able to come to grips with. What matters most is the love we can impart while we have the opportunity to do it. So the bulk of my day will be spent giving her all the luvvies she can handle.

thanx for listenin'
